I was having a lot of trouble coming up with birthday party favor ideas. You see, the traditional birthday party favors are all unhealthy. Almost every party that my son has gone to has offered extra junk food in the birthday favor bags. In my opinion, it is enough for them to go to the birthday and pig out on cake and ice cream. They should not be given extra candy to take home with them. Candy is bad enough when you have it once, but if they are eating it for the next two or three days, it is awful for the kids health. With the rising rates of childhood obesity, I knew I needed another idea. That is why decided to make birthday t shirts.
I actually got the idea of making custom birthday T shirts from one of my friends. He works a lot of different jobs, but most of them focus on printing or publishing. One of the most lucrative side projects that he has, however, is printing custom T shirts. He told me that the birthday T shirt was a classic. The kids go to so many birthday parties that they forget some of them, but no one will forget the birthday party if they have birthday T shirts to commemorate it. It would make my kid the star of the school. Every parent wants that!

Of course, deciding to make childrens birthday T shirts was one thing. Actually designing them and getting them made was quite another. There is nothing like trying to settle on the perfect design for a funny T shirt if you have never made one before. Me, my son, and my husband were all at work on birthday T shirts for the whole weekend. We didn't get a moment of rest. It seemed like we could not find the perfect design, no matter how hard we tried. Just as we were about to give up, my son came up with the perfect birthday T shirts idea.
It wasn't so much the wording as the design. Until that point, he had never shown any interest in art, but after he came up with those birthday T shirts, I wanted to encourage him to get into it. They were gorgeous. They were so eye-catching that I couldn't look away. Needless to say, the birthday party was a success as were the birthday T shirts. It is three years later, and some of the kids still wear them.
